Corner Pocket
A nice swing tune by Count Basie and His Orchestra.
Notes:
- Notice how tight they are, and Sonny Payne (the drums) is more agressive unlike Jo Jones. He does hits similar to Gene Krupa.
- The trumpet solo is taken by Thad Jones
- Then the tenor sax is played by Frank Weiss. Notice the contrast in dynamics unlike Eddie Davis (who'd always play loud and fast) or Lester Young who'd play loose.
- The intensity of Basie is here: he really likes to contrast his dynamics.
