Events

In our study on Sample Spaces, generally S, we need to define:

Coin Flip Events

Consider the 3 coin flipping example. Each possibility is a simple event:

  • E1=HHH, E2=HHT, ..., E8=TTT
    A compound event could be:
  • A={HTT,THT,TTH} which is the events that we got exactly one head
  • B={TTT,HTT,THT,TTH} where we got at most 1 heads
  • C={HHH,TTT} where we got all the same side
If we performed the experiment and got TTT then we got E8 and thus event C occurred.
