Events
In our study on Sample Spaces, generally
- Event: Any collection (subset of
) of outcomes within - Simple Event: Consists of exactly one outcome
- Compound Event: Consists of a choice from more than one outcome
Coin Flip Events
Consider the 3 coin flipping example. Each possibility is a simple event:

A compound event could be:which is the events that we got exactly one head where we got at most 1 heads where we got all the same side
If we performed the experiment and gotthen we got and thus event occurred.
