Transcription (Playing)

I really like this video on how to try to transcribe via playing. You should try to:

"focus on the movements on the pro you are listening to"

So instead of just trying to replicate, you should try to augment and add some color with the piece your playing with (ie: find your soul within the piece). Thus for this:

• find a solo in a piece that you want to follow with
• play along with the solo, especially at a slower tempo if needed (focus on getting the notes right)
• once your in lock, try to think about the notes of the harmony
• once you've got a feeling for how the tune is played, you should try to improvise with the solo (use bits of it)
